Get Ready for a Snow Job

President Bush on Wednesday named conservative commentator Tony Snow as White House press secretary, putting a new face on a troubled administration.
After two Press Secretaries whom no one with a thinking brain believed, we now have a professional liar. Mr. Tony Snow has worked for Fox News. So we know he can tell a lie, with a straight face and he has the ability to make many people believe the lie. I wonder if he will be able to keep it up when he is not just reading from a script, but facing the few questions our National Press asks, may break even him.

Snow has been the host of the “Tony Snow Show” on Fox News Radio and “Weekend Live with Tony Snow” on the Fox News Channel. He served in the first Bush administration as speech writing director, which shows he knows how to write lies and later as a deputy assistant to the president for media affairs.

So he knows how the game is played. He is an Conservative insider. And he has training in the Conservative propaganda machine. Yes, he has said unflattering things about Mr. Bush. Snow called Bush “something of an embarrassment,” a leader who has “lost control of the federal budget,” the architect of a “listless domestic policy” and a man who has “a habit of singing from the political correctness hymnal.” And in September he wrote, “No president has looked this impotent this long when it comes to defending presidential powers and prerogatives.” That is probably why he was hired. So that anytime he tells a whopper, he and Mr. Bush can say, “Well look, he is fair. He’s in this job because he is not just a ‘yes man’”. Many people will believe him because of his past criticism of Mr. Bush and this Administration.

He demanded and got more power and insider knowledge into the message that he has to deliver. And he has been promised that he will have policy power. He may live to regret that. It has always been the policy that you keep the Press Secretary out of the know, so that he can lie without actually knowing the whole truth. I quess, when you have worked for Fox News, you don’t have that problem.

At least Mr. Bush has finally hired a professional. Which shows that he does have a slight touch with reality. This Administration has been caught in so many lies, that they had to hire someone of Mr. Snow’s ability. A professional liar.
The spin on all the lies which are coming home to roost, will be on a higher level. Probably much easier to watch. Mr. Snow is smooth and seems charming. Is a lie coming from a charming person better? No, but it will probably sell a lot better. A fumbling liar, like Mr. McClellan, just can’t pull it off. I bet Mr. Snow can do it well.

It will be interesting to watch. He seems to be suave and smart. Something you can not have said about Scott McClellan. It was always painful to watch Mr. McClellan lie. He always looked as though he was ready to break into tears. Ari Fletcher was just a smarmy scum bag. I always felt like taking a shower after watching him.
Will we now have a Press Secretary who gives us straight answers? Or did we just get a better liar? We will see! Get out your snow shoes. We are about to get buried in a Snow Job! It might be better than the cowboy boots we have had to wear to walk through all the feculent blather (high brow) or “ButtTalk” (low brow) we have been buried under for the last five years.

I hate the snow!
