It’s A Start!

Headline: Bush Press Secretary Quits, Rove Ends Policy Role.

This is great news! Not that watching Mr. McClellan try to make sense out of the lies wasn’t great fun. But, it was like the fascination we have for train wrecks. The spectacle was awesome, but still we felt a bit of pain. Almost made us feel dirty.

Mr. Rove is not leaving the White House. He should be forced out of Washington, actually the country, but he is needed elsewhere. Where? The Republicans are losing in the polls. What to do? They now know they must use his brain and his dirty politics to get Republicans elected and reelected to the Congress. At least, this is the excuse they are giving for his leaving his present role.
Wasn’t it just a month ago, Mr. Bush said that his whole team would be staying until the end. Well, I guess that Mr. Bush didn’t really know that the “End Is Near”! The rats are leaving the sinking ship.
It may have more to do with moving Mr. Rove away from Mr. Bush, as the slime is beginning to stick on many in this Administration about “The Leak” case. They may be hoping that if the worst comes, they can blame it all on Mr. Rove and having him already out of the job of Policy Advisor to Mr. Bush, they can stop it there.

Won’t work, of course. Criminals will usually turn on their partners. Remember most Republican talking heads were saying that Mr. Libby would take one for the team. Same with Mr. Abramoff. Both started singing pretty quickly. Ms. Miller kept quiet the longest.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan announced his resignation on Wednesday and political adviser Karl Rove gave up his policy role in a shake-up of President George W. Bush’s senior aides. The moves were part of an effort by new White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten, who started his job last weekend, to help Bush rebound from sagging poll numbers and bolster American confidence in his leadership. Rove has been deputy White House chief of staff for policy development and Bush’s top political adviser. His policy role will be taken over by Joel Kaplan, currently the deputy White House budget director, two administration officials said.
Administration officials said Rove would give up his policy development duties in order to focus more on political affairs, as Republicans try to hang on to control of both houses of Congress in the November mid-term elections.{Source}.

Edited to add this newest twist to this whole story:

Mr. Fitzgerald having successfully completed his most extensive investigation and prosecution, ending with the conviction of former Governor Ryan, who was found guilty of 18 counts of corruption. His trial was the climax of a nine-year investigation that had yielded 75 convictions, including some of the most powerful figures in the Republican party of Illinois. Nine years of work to bring this about. The last few months his full attention has been on this trial. Now Mr. Fitzgerald has the time to return to the unresolved “leak” case before him. The federal grand jury considering his evidence began meeting again this morning. Karl Rove remains a subject–for now.

Karl Rove is a subject of Fitzgerald’s investigation - this is the headline buried in Mr. Libby’s filing.

Two weeks ago, Fitzgerald filed a motion before the federal court in the Libby case stating that his investigation had proved that the White House engaged in “concerted action” from “a plan to discredit, punish or seek revenge against” former ambassador Joseph Wilson, who revealed that the rationale of the Iraq war was based on false information that the White House knew was bogus. Fitzgerald declared further that he had gathered “evidence that multiple officials in the White House” had outed his wife’s clandestine identity to reporters as an element of revenge.
Last week, on April 12, Libby counter-filed to demand extensive documents in the possession of the prosecutor. His filing, written by his lawyers, reveals that he intends to put Karl Rove on the stand as a witness to question him about his leaking of Plame’s name to reporters and presumably his role in the “concerted action” against Wilson.
In his request for documents from Rove’s files, Libby dropped mention of Rove’s current legal status.
For months, Rove’s attorney, Robert Luskin, has assured the press that his client, who was believed to be vulnerable to indictment for perjury, is in the clear. But Libby insisted that he was entitled to “disclosure of such documents” in Rove’s files “even if Mr. Rove remains a subject of a continuing grand jury investigation. {Source}

No wonder they changed the focus from the Libby/Fitzgerald filing to the possibility of Nuclear War with Iran. Now, you can understand why Mr. Rove has been demoted.
He will be doing the perp walk…..or will they give him the same deal they gave Mr. Delay? A smiling face head shot. Still creepy! Will he sing? Probably. Can’t wait to hear his song!

Whatever the reason, it is good news! Start buying the party items. We may soon have a reason to throw one! The theme of the party? Throw Them All Out!
