Fire Away!

A former White House aide under indictment for obstructing a leak probe, I. Lewis Libby, testified to a grand jury that he gave information from a closely-guarded “National Intelligence Estimate” on Iraq to a New York Times reporter in 2003 with the specific permission of President Bush, according to a new court filing from the special prosecutor in the case.

The first President Bush believed that Richard Welch, a CIA officer in Greece, was killed because Agee blew his cover. So as CIA director, and from 1981 as vice president, Bush campaigned to make naming names illegal. That law, the Intelligence Identity Protection Act, was passed in 1982.
Since the passing of this law, any government official with access to classified information who discloses the identity of a covert agent without authorization is subject to 10 years in prison and $50,000 in fines.

“If there’s a leak out of my administration I want to know who it is,” Mr. George W. Bush said, “And if the person has violated the law that person will be taken care of.” This was a bald faced lie. This is a man who knows he authorized this. Instead of coming forward and telling us he did it and why, he lies about it. Why would he lie? Other than he can not ever tell the truth about anything, he knew that he would not be trusted by the American people again. He also hoped it would never come out. This investigation has cost us money and time.

When questioned later about this, Mr. Bush said that he would fire anyone involved in this scandal, who had outed or authorized the outing of one of America’s spies. Remember, Mr. Bush outed a Pakistani spy in one of his State of the Union addresses which were televised worldwide. Then when Mr. Libby and Mr. Rove were under the gun, he changed his story. He said that if anyone had broken the law, he would fire them. Turns out that it was Mr. Bush who outed Ms. Plame. That it may not technically breaking the law. Although, it reminds me of Mr. Nixon’s statement of his breaking the laws, “That if the President does it, it is not a crime”. Didn’t work then, shouldn’t work now. But it certainly is not moral or good or right. Under that theory, could a President commit murder and it would not be a crime? Under that theory, a President can lie before a Grand Jury and it is not a crime, right? Why then did Mr. Clinton get into so much trouble for lying about a blow job?
Remember, that they not only outed a CIA operative, but a business which was a cover for many of our CIA operatives. Mr. Novak wrote an article and spoke on television about the fact that this company was only a shell company. Set up to provide cover for our spies. All who worked for this company were spies. All of those operatives covers were blown. All for politics. All to sell his war. It was not just one person who’s work for our country was blown. We don’t know how many others, doing important work for us, were outed. How many people around the world, who did work with this company, were outed? How many were killed, because they were dealing with this company, as a cover for the real work they were doing. Providing us with answers to questions about WMD’s in these same countries which Mr. Bush has listed as the evil doers in this world. Shame on Mr. Bush!

This Administration is rotten from the top down and all deserve to be driven from power. They are traitors to America.
Mr. Bush must be such a disappointment to his parents. Both of his parents have said many times that outing a spy is the worst kind of treason. In 1991, the elder Bush said:

“I don’t care how long I live, I will never forgive Philip Agee and those like him who wantonly sacrifice the lives of intelligence officers who loyally serve their country.”

“I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors”.

When CNN is reporting this two days after it breaks, you know that this Administration has gone too far. I wonder if this will be anything but a one day wonder of a story. Watch out folks! Anytime that anything illegal has come out about this Administration, there has either been a terrorist alert or a shooting of an old man by Mr. Cheney. Okay, only once on that one. This may be so big, that it will take more than just shooting a man or a terrorist threat. Watch out for a “real” terrorist attack or the beginning of a new war, maybe Iran?

Stand up people! Now is the time to march, to protest, to make it known that no man can break our trust. Remember, this is the man who promised he would bring integrity, honesty and trust back to the White House.
He has failed. So all I can say to him is: “Fire away”! Start first with all the criminals in your Cabal; Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and all the rest of them. Then fire your own sorry ass.
Finally, something I agree with Mr. Bush on. Who ever did this will be fired. Either by you, Mr. Bush or the American people.
