We Will Sell You!
We are told to protect our identity by shredding all of our papers, which might have something which the terrorists or criminals might use, before we throw them away. Shred or burn your mail, don’t just toss it in the garbage. The Government is passing all kinds of rules and laws based on their claim that by doing so they are protecting us from identity theft. Especially because the terrorist are going to use this information to destroy us.
The IRS is quietly moving to loosen the once-inviolable privacy of federal income-tax returns. If it succeeds, accountants and other tax-return preparers will be able to sell information from individual returns - or even entire returns - to marketers and data brokers.
The change is raising alarm among consumer and privacy-rights advocates. It was included in a set of proposed rules that the Treasury Department and the IRS published in the Dec. 8 Federal Register, where the official notice labeled them “not a significant regulatory action.”
Criticism also came from U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D., Ill.). In a letter last Tuesday to IRS Commissioner Mark Everson, Obama warned that once in the hands of third parties, tax information could be resold and handled under even looser rules than the IRS sets, increasing consumers’ vulnerability to identity theft and other risks.
“There is no more sensitive information than a taxpayer’s return, and the IRS’s proposal to allow these returns to be sold to third-party marketers and database brokers is deeply troubling,” Obama wrote.{Read}
As it stands right now, you have to wave your right to privacy for either to disseminate your tax information. But, if they pass this law, you will have to opt out of this. In other wards, you do not have a right to privacy about your finances unless you claim them in writing.
Next thing you know, you won’t be presumed innocent until proven guilty, unless you opt in for that right. You won’t be protected from the Government searching your home, reading your mail or e-mail, listening to your phone conversations , seizing your papers, both the kind made from trees and electronic, the books that you read at the library or buy and all other Fourth Amendment Rights, unless you opt in. Bad example, that one is already gone and you can’t sign anything to opt in on that one. Patriot Act took care of that one. You won’t be entitled to fair counsel and a fair trial. Neither will you be able to know the charges against you, nor will you be able to face your accuser, unless you opt in. You won’t be an American Citizen, unless you opt in.
Fair Warning: I am opting in to being an American Citizen. I opt in to all my rights.
