The Widow’s Mite Or Ka-Ching!
You heard the wonderful news of Barbara Bush giving money to help New Orleans victims recover from the devastation? What a marvelous humanitarian! So she gets a tax break for this giving. Everyone can.
She donated the money through her husband and Mr. Clinton’s organization, {Donate} which was set up to collect money for the Katrina victims. I beg everyone to do the same, even if you have already. Give again.
She did this out of the goodness of her heart, right? Well, maybe. She had strings attached. Her money was earmarked for educational software. Good, she cares about the children. It’s okay for us to give money to help and then tell what kind of help we want to give, isn’t it? Nothing here, another move on moment.
Oh, the money was to go only to her son Neil Bush’s company, Ignite Learning, through Houston’s Hurricane Katrina relief fund.. And his business partner is a man from the United Arab Emirates.
The Bush family and these United Arab Emirates people seem to be in bed a lot. You have Mr. George Bush trying to sell our port security to the Untied Arab Emirates. You have a sheik from the United Arab Emirates who contributed at least $1 million to the former President George Bush’s Library Foundation, which established the George Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University in College Station. Other Arab donors include the state of Kuwait, the Bandar bin Sultan family, the Sultanate of Oman, King Hassan II of Morocco and the amir of Qatar. The former Korean prime minister and China also gave tens of thousands of dollars to the library fund.
Barbara Bush giving was not the Biblical giving which Jesus taught us to do. No widow and the mite here. Mark 12:41-44. How do we know the widow is poor? She quietly dropped the coin in. And shuffled off. No noise, no look at me. No aren’t I great! And remember she really needed that money. How do we know that the donators are rich? Do they draw attention to themselves with their dress and large bags of money or how they act?
Barbara Bush wanted to help her son, but she wouldn’t just write a check to him. That would be bad for her. Just more money down the drain helping one more of her brood out of messes they always seem to get into, in business deals. No, she wanted to look good, without worrying her “beautiful mind” over all those poor people, and get a tax break for it. Lots of Ka-Ching here!
