Is the Silent Majority Finally Waking Up?
Even in a Red State? Only 25% of the American population wishes to change Row v. Wade.
12/12/05 :Approve 73%, Disapprove: 19%.
01/13/06: Approve 72%, Disapprove 23%.
South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds(R) did not find out how the Citizens of South Dakota felt on the abortion issue. He should have asked.
On 03/13/06, the polls for Governor Rounds’ was:
Approve 58%, Disapprove 38%.
What happened to bring this about? This drop occurred after he signed a bill outlawing most abortions in the state, according to a new SurveyUSA poll. {View Poll}
Most young people have not thought about this issue. After all, it has always been legal in their lifetime. Now that the States are trying a back door way to overturn it, they may decide that they need to be involved. It is their life, their right to their own body and their right to privacy.
Hopefully, the saying “You can never go back” is true. Go back to the back alley abortions, to the rich being able to fly to where it is legal and safe, the unwanted and uncared for children, the women dying from the pregnancy, the unwed mothers, or the unwanted marriages which rarely work out.
Progress in any Human Right should not be taken back
The Constitutional Amendment which made it a crime to drink Alcohol brought about much crime and most Americans thumbed their noses at it. Tea Cups with Alcohol in the best hotels and restaurants. Hooch in bathtubs.
It was one of those Christian Groupies that wanted to force all American’s to practice what these particular brand of Christians wanted. We tried it and it did not work and so another Amendment was passed to get rid of the first one. Have we not learned anything in the (almost) century since then? That each of us have a right to our own brand of morals, except when my actions interfere with your Rights. Notice it is your Rights, not your Beliefs. It is between me and my God. Stay out! You worship and do what you believe is right, in your own life. Do not force your belief systems on me! God doesn’t!
