You Would Cry Too
First we had Mrs. Thomas crying at the hearings for her husband’s appointment to the Supreme Court. Now we have a repeat performance by Mrs. Alito.
It seems to be the only response that these women who are married to these extreme Right Wing members of the Republican Party can do. When their husband’s record and life are laid bare to the public, they cry. And then the “news” people and the pundits all point to those terrible Democrats who made these women cry. (Although it was a Republican Senator who did it this time…..but then, I’m sure the Democrats made him do it). It seems to say, “Because of these horrible Democrats, who dared to ask questions and expect answers to these men’s lives and rulings, and made their dear, sainted wives cry, these men deserve and we demand that they are appointed to the Supreme Court”.
They are married to men who believe and practice the policies of keeping women as property. How soul destroying must this be, to know in your heart and mind that you deserve to be treated as an equal, but you must repress these thoughts and feelings, because of who you are married to. The position your husband’s hold in the Party and your wish to remain as a wife of these men who are about to get incredible power, keeps you bound by these restrictions to your person hood.
What does the appearance of the wives have to do with confirming the appointment of these men? What does it matter if they can not keep a stiff upper lip to the questions being asked of these men seeking a job?
And that is what this is all about. These men are interviewing for a job. And they are interviewing with almost 300 million American bosses. Yes, I count the children, as these men will be involved in their lives, deaths and liberties for the next 20, 30 or even 40 years.
Don’t cry for me, it won’t work. How terribly manipulative that you would resort to the worst caricature of women. That if we can’t win with logic, resort to tears. Why not the vapors, why not faint?
Grow up! You Republican women who act like this. You may need a man as your owner. You seem incapable of thinking on your own, incapable of acting on your own and incapable of being an adult woman. You deserve men like this as your husbands.
But I don’t deserve them and neither does America!
As I said, I would cry too! Actually, I did.
