The Final Solution to Social Security’s Insolvency
Mr. Bush keeps telling us that our Social Security is in serious trouble. That too many “baby boomers” are coming to the age of retirement and that there is simply not enough money in the system to pay all of them. To keep the Medicare system we have. He has a plan which he has gone around the country promoting. No one is buying it. Not the people, not the Congress, even Republicans have turned him down. How could even this President not have a plan which he could get his party to back? This was all a bait and switch plan. They never really wanted to put all that wonderful money back into the pockets of the little people. So why do it?
I think it’s a nutty idea to fool around with the Social Security system and run the risk of [hurting] the people who’ve been saving all their lives…. It may be a new idea, but it’s a dumb one.
In response to a question about partially privatizing the program.

The Republican Controlled Congress passed a law and Mr. Bush signed into law, which makes all people on Social Security (and those who will be joining that group) choose from amongst 60 plans, that you must join by May 2006. Once you have chosen, you can not change plans for a full year. You must choose this plan based on which medicines you are currently taking and find the plan which covers those prescriptions. Hopefully, you can find one plan which covers all of your needs and Lord help you, if the Doctor puts you on a prescription which the Insurance Plan you have chosen months ago, does not cover. You will either have to pay for it yourself or go without and pray that you don’t die during this year from lack of the medicine that you need. Then, next May you can go through the whole process again and find a company plan which covers your old prescriptions and the new one(s).
Sounds complicated? Well, it is even worse than that. The Insurance Company which you have chosen, can change what prescriptions it covers. Every week it can change it’s coverage! So, if too many of you old folks are taking heart medications, we will just take those off the list of prescriptions we cover. Each and every week.. Who thought this was good for the American Citizens? That this would help our elderly?
What happens to these retired folks? They either have to pay out of pocket for these medicines which their Doctors have prescribed to maintain their health or even to keep them alive, (even though they are on a fixed income and many have to decide if they are going to eat or buy their medicines), or they will not be able to take the medicines which they need to live.
If you already have a medical problem, they are demanding that you have all new tests to prove that you have not miraculously been cured. At your expense. So, if you have had MS since you were 40 and you are now 65, your prescription medicine will not be covered until you have all these tests. Remember, you will have to pay for all of these tests.
The Insurance companies will save money and get richer. Social Security will save money and become solvent to fund more wars. After all, the death benefit is only $250.00 if you can get it. Most elderly Americans prescription expenses are at least that much in one month.
How many of these American’s, who have worked and have put their hard earned money into Social Security all of their lives, will die in the first year? In ten years?
There is a rumor that they want to pass a law which bans Death Certificates being in the Public Domain. They want to have them made Top Secret.: Classified. If true, I wonder why?
Maybe they don’t want the Pharmaceutical Companies to have to answer for the deaths caused by their medicines, although they have already covered their asses when it comes to vaccines. Maybe the answer is, they don’t want those pesky researchers being able to put together exactly how many older American’s have died because of lack of prescription medicines!
Shame!
Is this one of those “tinfoil hat” conspiracy theories? No, just questions I have. Trying to make sense of nonsense. Medicare is one of the Governments plans which actually works better than anything in the private sector. Why mess with something that works?
Does anyone have the answer?
