You Can’t Sell Fear & Expect People To Act Brave!

The Bush Cabal have been selling us “Fear the Arabs” for five years now. They could not open their mouths without telling us that all Arabs were a danger to us and the whole world. September 11, 2001 was invoked in every talking point, which signaled to us the “Fear the Arabs” image.

We once had a President, F. D. Roosevelt, who told us during World War II “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself”, and this is what Mr. Bush and his Administration should have been selling. Yes, there are some bad people in the world, but let’s not let fear get the better of us. We are stronger than any terrorist. They may kill some of us, but most of us will be safe. In any war, some of us may die, but you still live your life. A great leader challenges the people to withstand the terror and move on, go forward toward victory.

Remember back to World War II when the bombing of London was a nightly occurrence. Many children were moved out to safe zones, but the people kept living and working there. The King and Queen and the Princesses did not leave. Every day they would go to the worst bombed area, while it still was burning, to challenge their people to continue, to not break. To give comfort just by their presence. Compare that to the action of Mr. Bush. On September 11, 2001, he ran and hid. It was days before he went to New York. During Katrina, he was on vacation. It was days before he showed up to give support by his presence. In both cases he should have done much more, but this man can’t even grab hold of his fear and show some balls. Show compassion for others who need everything at that moment and just the act of showing up is a boost to many people.

Many other Americans showed up and many are still there doing the work. The compassion these people are giving is more than mere lip service to their beliefs. These are the true compassionate people, both Conservative and Liberal.

But, if you can not sell the fear and make it so scary that people are truly afraid, you can not sell the “give up your rights for safety”, which was their plan all along.

And then, this bunch of idiots forgot that their message had been sold so thoroughly throughout the land, the fear of Arabs particularly, that you could not sell the security of our ports to an Arab nation.

Especially one which two of the terrorist from 911 were citizens of The Sept. 11 commission, revealed that two of the Sept. 11 hijackers were Emirati nationals: Fayez Banihammad and Marwan al-Shehhi. Especially not one which had supported terrorist. The Sept. 11 Commission found that the United Arab Emirates served as a conduit for funds, logistical hub and transit point for al Qaeda operatives involved in the plot. Especially not one which had been warned by al Qaeda that they had infiltrated their government offices. Especially one which The International Atomic Energy Agency has said Dubai, a member of the United Arab Emirates, was the headquarters of the nuclear black market run by disgraced Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan. The Khan network supplied centrifuge technology to countries including Libya and North Korea.

Former Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge disagrees with this Administration on this subject, stating: “I think the anxiety and the concern (over the Dubai deal) that has been expressed by congressmen and senators and elsewhere is legitimate.”

Sell fear or sell hope, pride, strength. You can not change the product you are selling overnight. Remember when Coke changed their recipe? It was the “New Coke”. It didn’t sell. I remember driving to Mexico to load up on the “Real Thing”.

This Administration has gotten so used to being able to sell anything. If they just put the fear of not accepting what they want, of what will happen to us if all good, patriotic American’s don’t fall into line. They forgot that things have begun to change back. American’s are getting their backbones and their thinking brains back. They are crawling up from that dark hole of fear. They are beginning to act like American’s.

The Bush Cabal have used the terror alert too many times. The last time they used it, when they claimed that they had a “credible evidence”, that New York’s Subways were the target. Everyone went into panic, until the Pentagon and CIA said they had no idea where that evidence had come from. There was no credible threat.

At that point, the nation knew that this Administration had no clothes. They were bald-faced liars. They were snake-oil salesmen. They were sellers of doom and gloom. They were not trustworthy. They had gone to the well once too often!

Welcome back, America. Welcome to the country that was. Keep crawling up out of the darkness of fear. Keep on coming toward the light!
