Why Cheney Had To Shoot That Man!

I fondly remember the days when Mr. Cheney, instead of shooting his wad, just shot off his mouth at a Senator on the Senate floor!

For this Administration to get it’s way for the last five years all it had to do was scare us. All they have had to do to get some story off the “front page” and off the 24 hour news, is raise the Terrorist Alert Level.

It had worked, oh so well, for all the scandals, all the stealing of Rights and all the power grabs. But they went to it once too often. Things had changed. People were not as afraid anymore, people were not believing everything they were told, people were beginning to think for themselves.

The last time this Administration used it was when they claimed that they had “credible evidence” that New York’s Subways were the targets. Everyone was searched, including young children going to school. Everyone went into panic, until the Pentagon and CIA said they had no idea where that evidence had come from. There was no credible evidence.

People sighed and then they laughed. And then they began to be angry that just maybe they had been made fools of. They began to question this Administration’s truthfulness. They had cried wolf once too often.

This time Mr. Bush needed the story to change fast. Jack Abramoff was beginning to spill the beans.

Wednesday, January 4, 2006; Jack Abramoff, the once-powerful lobbyist at the center of a wide-ranging public corruption investigation, pleaded guilty yesterday to fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy to bribe public officials in a deal that requires him to provide evidence about members of Congress. {In Depth}

And he was. He was naming names. The Republicans tried their usual smear tactics. But now, we have a real problem. There are pictures. Many pictures. They are about to be released. What to do?

Can’t use terror alerts. They did not buy into that fear last time. They needed a big enough story. A month later the Abramoff story is not going away. In fact, it is getting worse for many Republicans who had accepted bribes, (oh, I mean contributions) from Mr. Abramoff.

February 11, 2006. The 78-year-old lawyer wounded by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting … and pilloried as the unflappable fix-it man of the Bush administration… {In Depth}

Well, what do you do if you can’t use your best weapon to deflect attention from what is really going on? You must come up with a new one.

If you can’t keep your complete control over the media all the time now, what can you do? What better way to get the story you don’t want off the front pages and television, than to have Mr. Cheney shoot someone.

Who to shoot? Well, there is this very old man in Texas. He has been a great supporter of this Administration. He has given vast amounts of money to us. He’s old and has lived his life. The “My only regret is that I have but one life to give to my country” reason. Do you think they asked him?

Did he agree to be the fix-it man, again? Take one for the team? We may never know. But it worked. The Abramoff story was off the news.

But, that might not be enough of a story. After all, it would be looked at as a terrible hunting accident. One day wonder of a story, happens all the time. But, if you don’t follow the law, you don’t tell Mr. Bush, you don’t talk to the police, you don’t have a news conference, you only sit down with your Fox News reporter, who you know will let you off easy.

Now there is THE STORY!

If there is a scandal coming up, don’t go hunting with Mr. Cheney. Actually, with this Cabal, there is always a scandal. I would completely stay indoors. No use taking a chance that there might be a bird around you, while Mr. Cheney is within gunshot range of you.
