Life For Those We Love

“….Destroy life to save lives is one of those ethical problems….”.
So said Mr. Bush at one of the debates between Senator Kerry and President Bush.

This seems like such an easy one to agree with. “Destroy life to save lives” must be wrong in all circumstances just as Mr. Bush said. He believes that when it comes to “Stem Cell Research”. Even though most scientist and most American’s believe that this will lead human beings to a better quality of life and save lives.

Living Human Beings should always take precedent over potential lives! There are “stem cells” available in storage at fertility clinics, which are going to be destroyed because they are not needed. Why should we not make their destruction count for something? A greater purpose. “No greater love has a man than he lay down his life for another.”

Mr. Bush believes that when it comes to “Partial Birth Abortion”, even if the fetus will not be viable after birth, that it should be against the law. Abortion is a medical procedure which most women do not wish to go through, but circumstances sometimes make it the only option. The Supreme Court has ruled it Constitutional. Only 25% of Americans do not believe in abortion. Many of those in the 25% group are doing everything to overturn this. (These are the same 25% who are always yelling about those few Americans who wish to take the 10 Commandments and prayer out of school. “How dare a minority try to dictate to the majority”) They have passed the “Partial Birth Abortion Ban” Bill, (which was overturned by the Supreme Court as Un-Constitutional) but again they have shown that they truly do not care about life. There is no provision for this medical procedure to be preformed to save a women’s life. A woman who may have many children at home, who need their mother alive and well. How does this protect life or children? This only protects potential life.

Then Mr. Bush, who says it is wrong or causes “Ethical Problems” has a problem. What is war, besides destroying lives to save lives? In the Iraqi war, over 2500 American have died and over 120,000 Iraqi lives have been lost. We are told that this is to save our lives. So, according to Mr. Bush, in some circumstances it is morally right to destroy lives to save lives!

Who made him the judge of when it is acceptable and morally right to take lives and when it is not? I did not! This man does not have the intelligence nor the morality to make these decisions. I would rather put my trust in the scientific community and their governing bodies to decide what needs to be done for the good of humanity and under what circumstances. Yes, there should be rules and regulations. One must weigh all, the good and the bad. Just as it should be done in warfare.

Our government has not had a problem in the past on doing experiments on the American people without their consent. Even deadly ones. The syphilis testing done on African American males in the 1940’s, the test done on U. S. citizens in subways in our major cities, to name two. These were done on living human beings, on life. To save others? Perhaps. More than likely the biological test were done for weaponry.

We may protect our lives with deadly force. This is another of those times when it is right to destroy life to save life. What other circumstances is it morally right to destroy life to save life?

The Prescription Drug Companies say they must keep the drug prices high, because they need to finance the next generation of drugs which will make American lives healthier and save many lives.

This sacrifices those who can not afford the drugs they need now to stay alive for use by people in the future. So, the drugs that are available and could save lives of people who are living now are too expensive to save those lives. What makes you believe that you will be able to afford these new drugs in the future, which we have paid for being developed? Not only with our money, but with our lives. We are being sacrificed for future people to be cured, if you are one of those who can afford it. Many of those cures will be for Erectile Dysfunction or other non-life threatening problems. What’s the difference between that and those embryonic stem cells? These are living, breathing people who are alive now, and need these drugs. Not some possibility of a life.

And this Administration and Mr. Bush have helped them achieve this. Does this really help you to believe that they care about lives?>/p>

We can’t re-import drugs from Canada which would save each of us money, because they may not be safe. Is the Canadian government giving bad drugs to it’s citizens? Re-importation of drugs, means exactly what it says. These drugs were made in the USA and imported to Canada. All we would be doing is bringing them back to the country of origin. There are drugs in this country which are routinely prescribed by doctors which have not been approved by our FDA. Are they safe? No, because they can not pass the requirements to pass, but they are still prescribed.

Christopher Reeves died before realizing his dream. Not only his dream for himself but for all people who suffer from spinal cord injury, other injuries and diseases which ruin the quality of human lives and those which kill us. I admired this man for his fight for all of us. Yes, all of us. We will all be affected by one of these in our lifetimes. Either we ourselves will suffer from one of these tragedies or a family member or a friend. Let’s pay tribute to this wonderful, loving man by doing all we can to elect thinking people to office who will value all human life and the quality of our lives!

All we hear from the Religious Right is Culture of Life, Pro-Life and that the Liberals are against humanity and the American Way of Life.

They have tried to overturn Roe v. Wade. They have tried several times to make it illegal to have an abortion to save a women’s life in the third trimester of her pregnancy, with the Senate passing late-term abortion ban - Dec. 17, 2003 the Supreme Court ruled that unconstitutional, and again they passed the bill making “Partial Birth Abortion (what a Red Flag that term is) illegal. Again the Supreme Court affirmed that this was unconstitutional. They have stopped stem cell research. They have cut back on funding for Head Start programs. They have cut back on school funding. They have cut back on Veteran Benifits. They have passed the Medi-care program, actually lying about the savings to our elderly, now those Americans who have worked hard all their lives are having to dedice between the medicines they need to live or the food they need to live.

Culture of Life? And yet, they have no problem declaring war, an unneccessary war in which hundreds of thousands of human beings have been killed or severely injured. How many babies, born and unborn have been killed? How many children?

The Stem Cells that are needed for research are all destined to be thrown away. That kills them. They have not tried to stop that.

Human Beings have asked for other Human Beings to defend us, our country, our way of life, the world with their lives. Many have been willing to do this of their own free will. (Although many have no real choice, it’s the only job they can get). At most times in the history of our country there was no free choice. We were drafted. Some of us give up our lives, so that others of us can live.

There is a simple answer to the use of these Stem Cells. Draft them so that other living Americans can continue to live! This is the true Culture of Life!

STEM CELLS
JUST DRAFT THEM!©
