Civil War In Iraq? Might It Be Our Exit Strategy?
How did it come to this? We have studied the actions of our military and the lack of planning for after the fighting and wondered why. How could the greatest military might on Earth, not be able to control a country which is about the size of California?
If we had deployed enough troops, to do the same type of Marshall Plan which was done in Europe and Japan after WWII, Iraq would not have slid down into Civil War, but as usual, the Bush Cabal can not manage anything.
We saw in the recent discussion on FOX- asking the question-”All-Out Civil War in Iraq: Could It Be a Good Thing?”
If civil war is such a good thing, why did Bush proclaim in 2005:
June 28, 2005:
“They failed to incite an Iraqi civil war”? “for the sake of our nation’s security, this will not happen on my watch.”
December 12, 2005:
“I know some fear the possibility that Iraq could break apart and fall into civil war. I don’t believe these fears are justified.
They have fought the same type of warfare as Vietnam. Bit pieces of land under our control with the rest of the land without any authority to stop the little crimes, which then emboldens people to try something bigger, until you have gangs breaking the laws of civilization. The next step is for some leader or group to come in. They are called many names, but it always ends in Civil War. We are stuck back in the “Green Zones” where we go out from and fight. While the rest of the country is in havoc.
The Iraqi people have less of everything now, than they had under Saddam. Less food, water, electricity, safety, housing, work, gas, oil, jobs and money. Their freedom and a bright future are in question.
We fought WWII differently, We landed and then swept across all of Europe in a long line, cleaning up every enemy soldier along the way. We left enough soldiers in the rear areas to keep the peace. We set up local governments from the citizens and as soon as they were able to govern, we left. We also did good deeds, to win the hearts and minds of the people. We failed to do this in Korea and more so in Vietnam. Both of these complete failures of what we were told was the reasons we went to war.
The only idea that I can come up with is, it went horribly wrong and they did not know how to get us out of this mess that they had made. So they have allowed it to get much worse, to the point that the people of Iraq are now fighting each other, a civil war and now we can leave, because we don’t involve ourselves in civil wars.
Or am I giving these people more credit than they deserve? I feel so angry that the Iraqi people have had to put up with all this war from us for three years and now they are stuck in one of the most horrific events that can happen to a country and a people.
Why would Mr. Bush and this Administration, and more importantly the Military practice warfare with a repeatedly proven failed plan?
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.
This Bush Cabal is insane! And sad to say, half of the American people, (those who voted for them and those who support them) should be wrapped up in the same straight jackets these people so deserve.
